Tired of using the same old activities in your classroom? Want to use educational games but don’t have time to create them? Need to incorporate digital literacy? You are in the right place.
As a former teacher, I know how hard it can be to find quality, digital resources to use in your classroom. I was constantly wasting time scouring the internet for materials adapted to my students. When I did find a resource oftentimes it did not adhere to our district’s technology policies. This is why we created LoonyLearn.
Instead of searching websites for hours looking for worksheets, puzzles, and games, use LoonyLearn! We have a variety of educational games for math and spelling. While you prepare lessons, we will take care of the practice. Simply teach your lessons, then assign your students games to play to practice the concepts.
Unlike other services, we align all our content to CCSS. When you assign your students game time on LoonyLearn, you know they will be receiving quality practice. You can see our math and spelling curriculum here. Rest easy knowing that LoonyLearn is here for your students.
At a time when more and more schools look to incorporate technology in the classroom, LoonyLearn was created. LoonyLearn is a web-based service designed to supplement traditional instruction. We provide engaging games that help you differentiate learning.
With LoonyLearn, students will learn digital literacy along with math and spelling. Students use the keyboard to play educational games and use the mouse to navigate the website. We provide a safe space for students to explore a website with educational content.
Additionally, LoonyLearn’s terms of use and privacy policy are adapted for elementary school children. Teachers assign their students’ login information. We do not collect student personal information or sell data to other companies. This ensures your students’ privacy and online security.
Our educational games are created to reinforce your teaching by repeating the same concepts. As your students progress through games, they will repeat the same concepts. When a mistake occurs, the problem is flagged and will reappear until the student solves it correctly. The more your students play the game, the more they see the problems, and the better they learn. You teach the concept, and we give students practice.
Each game we offer requires skills other than the targeted math skill. These skills are spatial awareness, timing, and planning ahead. According to research, students are more interested in a game if it is challenging, but not too challenging. If a game is too difficult, students give up. If a game is not difficult enough, students lose interest. We design our games to be complex enough to keep students immersed in their learning.
We want your students to succeed, so we developed games that meet the needs of a variety of learners. For each concept, there are games at easy, regular, and hard difficulty levels. We base each level on Bloom's Taxonomy. At easy levels, your students identify the correct answer, and at higher levels, they recall the correct answers themselves. You can differentiate your teaching right from our Teacher Dashboard! Whether your students like a challenge or need more guidance, we have games designed for them.
LoonyLearn believes teachers are crucial to student success. Teachers create relationships with students that help them prosper. LoonyLearn is not meant to replace classroom learning, but rather enhance it. Teachers present the information to their students. Once students learn the basic concept, LoonyLearn provides the practice.
Teachers are expected to meet the needs of diverse learners. It is hard to create lessons that reach every type of student. LoonyLearn can help you differentiate effectively. While one group of students play on LoonyLearn, teachers can work with another group. This allows teachers more time to with small groups of students who have similar needs. The best part is, the teacher does not have to prepare the activity for the rest of the class. Just let them play educational games on LoonyLearn.
On LoonyLearn, you can assign topics to an entire class or one or more students. Select a topic, game difficulty, and due date, then let students play. Teachers can assign different topics and difficulty levels for students based on their needs. With LoonyLearn, teachers can meet students where they are at.
Our educational games automatically track and send data to teachers. Teachers see how much time students spent on a game, what they missed, and if they are meeting proficiency levels. Once a teacher checks this data, they can assign games based on student needs.
Teachers can look at data for a whole class or a single student. On the class summary page, teachers see an overview of the class’s performance. This includes the percentage of students who have completed the assignment and if the class is meeting proficiency. On an individual student’s page, teachers see specific data such as what mistakes a student has made.
While you can view data on your teacher dashboard, there are other ways to track data. The data gathered from the games can be exported to a Microsoft Excel document. We want you to have access to your data even when you do not have access to LoonyLearn. This data is useful when discussing student progress with parents or other teachers.
As a company, we want LoonyLearn to be accessible to teachers. We understand that paying for classroom resources can be tricky, which is why we give you options. Teachers can pay for the subscription with school funds or try one of the methods presented below.
LoonyLearn offers the option for parents to sponsor a teacher. On our homepage is a link for parents to help teachers pay for their LoonyLearn subscription. Parents can choose to pay for a month or a full year of a teacher’s account. If you want to use LoonyLearn and cannot pay using school funds, consider asking parents in your weekly or monthly newsletter.
